Sherline 6735 CNC Upgrade Kit, 4400-series Lathes (Metric)
About the Sherline CNC-Ready Conversion Kits
Any existing Sherline lathe or mill can be converted to CNC-ready status. The installation will involve drilling and tapping several holes to attach the stepper motor mounts. The kits include drill blocks that are attached to the appropriate table or bed using the single existing hole and then two new holes are drilled using the block as a guide. The holes are then tapped and the new mount installed. In the case of the mill column and the lathe leadscrew, a new leadscrew must also be installed. Complete instructions for the conversion are supplied with the kits.
The 6730 (6235 metric) is designed for the 4400-series lathes, which includes the following:
- 2 stepper motor mounts
- CNC-24″ Lathe Bed Leadscrew
- CNC-RH Coupling Preload Nut
- CNC Template, Bed Bushing
- CNC Template, Slide Bushing
- All the nuts and screws for motor mount attachment
- Conversion and assembly instructions
What does “CNC-Ready” mean
CNC-ready means the machine is ready to bolt on stepper motors and apply CNC control to them by means of a system that the user must supply. If you are not capable of developing your own CNC system, several aftermarket suppliers offer stepper motors, drivers and CNC software to complete the system. See our CNC Dealers page for links to aftermarket system suppliers.
